Ms Abramova presented the recommendations of the report ‘Regulation of AI for the Benefit of Humanity’ to UNCITRAL
The MGIMO AI Centre is closing 2024 by actively participating in shaping the international agenda on AI development. On 19 December, Anna Abramova, Director of the AI Centre and member of the UN High-Level Advisory Body on AI, presented the key recommendations of the report ‘Regulating AI for the Benefit of Humanity’ at the UNCITRAL event in Vienna.

The event, organised by the UNCITRAL Secretariat, is held annually in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and the National Competitiveness Centre of Saudi Arabia.

This year, the main theme of the meeting was ‘Emerging Trends in Digital Trade Law’, with a special focus in the programme on the role of AI in international trade. The meeting brought together leading experts from international organisations (UNCITRAL, WTO, UNCTAD, WEF), representatives of government agencies and academia.

The topic of Anna Abramova's presentation was ‘The Impact of AI on the Global Trade System’. Key emphases were made on the opportunities of global regulation in the field of AI and data, risks and potential for international trade in goods and services.
