Anna Abramova, Head of the MGIMO AI Centre, participated in the preparation of the text of the UNIDO report ‘Bridging the AI divide. Empowering developing countries through manufacturing’ (published in December 2024).
The document provides an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and challenges faced by actors in the manufacturing sector in developing countries. It makes a number of recommendations to improve their industrial competitiveness and export potential in global markets, stimulate economic diversification, create new jobs and secure social benefits. The report highlights the importance of minimising associated risks, such as limited access to digital infrastructure, low levels of digital literacy, regulatory gaps and the security of personal data. The authors of the report also considered the problems of regulation in this area, including Russia's experience in the context of the development of the Code of Ethics in the field of AI.
