On September 27-28, the annual international conference "Artificial Societies and Information Technologies" took place at the Central Economics and Mathematics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (CEMI RAS). At the event, the Director of the AI Center at MGIMO, A.V. Abramova, delivered a presentation.
Anna Vladimirovna presented the latest developments related to an index for assessing the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence, titled "Assessment of Ethical Aspects of Artificial Intelligence at National and International Levels. Approach to Index Structure and Methodology." She also discussed potential platforms for further discussions on AI development at the international level, international approaches, and general trends.
The authors of the index are experts from the AI Center: Director A.V. Abramova, Researcher A.I. Ryzhkova, and Junior Researcher Y.K. Tserekh. The work proposes a methodology for possible global ethical assessment of AI using an index, with key stakeholders including government, business, civil society, and research centers. The structure encompasses relevant indicator groups reflecting ethical aspects for both developers and users. "The Global AI Ethics Index system could serve as a basis for assessing ethical impact, in combination with OECD AI Recommendations and Principles, and as a foundation for AI classification," emphasized Anna Abramova.
The report was prepared as part of the
"Priority 2030" program in both Russian and English languages. "Assessment of Ethical Aspects of Artificial Intelligence at National and International Levels. Approach to Index Structure and Methodology" is the first publication in the research collection "Artificial Intelligence for Development."
