On 26 November 2024, MGIMO hosted the traditional annual conference ‘AI Global Dimension 2024’ organised by the MGIMO Centre for Artificial Intelligence. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, business and academia to discuss key issues of global regulation of artificial intelligence and prospects for international co-operation in the field of IT and AI.

The moderator was Anna Abramova, Director of the MGIMO AI Centre and Academic Director of the Artificial Intelligence Master's Programme (MGIMO x ADV Group)

The conference programme included two key sessions:
Session 1. ‘Global Regulation of Artificial Intelligence: 2024 Year in Review’.
In the first session, participants discussed topical issues of international regulation of artificial intelligence. Special attention was paid to standards, ethical aspects, cross-border data exchange and coordination of positions of leading players in the international arena. The discussion brought together experts working to create fundamental regulations and approaches for the safe and effective implementation of AI technologies.

Session 2: ‘Potential and Limitations of International Cooperation in IT and AI Business’.
The second session was devoted to analysing opportunities for international cooperation and export of Russian technologies. The participants considered key success factors in foreign markets, discussed barriers to the introduction of AI technologies and shared their experience in creating competitive IT solutions.

The conference ended with a summarising session, during which the participants noted the need to consolidate the efforts of the government, business and scientific community for the successful development of the Russian AI market and export of domestic AI products abroad.
