Business Programme of the Global Digital Forum 2025 Held in Nizhny Novgorod
On 6 June, the Business Programme of the Global Digital Forum 2025 took place in Nizhny Novgorod.
Anna Abramova, Head of the MGIMO AI Centre, spoke at the session titled “Trusted AI in an Era of Global Distrust.”

The panel featured a distinguished line-up of speakers, including Amandeep Singh Gill (UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Technology), Mehdi Snene (Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Tech Envoy), Shen HAO (Shanghai AI Research Institute), Habib Mohammed (Addis Ababa Science and Technology University), Héctor Rodríguez (Havana Science and Technology Park), Aleksei Savrasov (UNIDO), and Dmitriy Sluzhenikin (National Technological Center of Digital Cryptography).
The discussion was moderated by Andrey Neznamov (Сenter of human-centric AI, Sberbank).

Key topics addressed during the session included:
  • International regulatory standards and UN-led initiatives;
  • AI ethics and the cultural adaptation of solutions;
  • Multilingual datasets and regional specificities.
The conversation also touched upon the broader issue of global consensus and its achievability in the foreseeable future.

Anna Abramova, Director of the MGIMO AI Centre, remarked:
“Scientific consensus on AI development is of utmost importance. In this context, the Global Digital Compact represents a vital first step, as it includes a dedicated section on artificial intelligence. The agreement’s text is itself a product of consensus and intense negotiations among UN Member States.
AI development calls for a consensus-driven approach — from national to global levels — as well as an interdisciplinary focus. The latter is crucial for balancing societal interests. In this regard, much is expected from the Scientific Advisory Panel proposed in the Compact, which must also be interdisciplinary in nature.”
