Anna Abramova Speaks at UNESCO Conference on Information and Communication in the Digital Age
From 25 to 27 June, the city of Khanty-Mansiysk hosted the 7th UNESCO International Conference on “Information and Communication in the Digital Age: Explicit and Implicit Influences”, held within the framework of the 16th International IT Forum with the participation of BRICS and SCO member states.

During the strategic session titled “Ethical Aspects of Information Technology Use in the Context of the AI Alliance’s Activities”, experts discussed the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence based on the principles of fairness, transparency, and respect for human rights. Special focus was placed on the development of universal ethical standards for the safe global use of neural networks.
Participants explored the societal impact of AI, regulatory approaches, algorithmic transparency, support for scientific research, data and copyright protection, and efforts to promote the national Code of Ethics for Artificial Intelligence.

The discussion featured leading experts in AI and digital technologies, including:
  • Ilya Volnov (Moscow Polytechnic University),
  • Anastasia Ugleva (HSE University),
  • Egor Khozyainov (Kaspersky Lab JSC), and
  • Pavel Tsiporin (Government of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra).
The session provided a platform for building a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and prospects associated with the ethical development of AI.

Anna Abramova, Head of the MGIMO AI Centre, participated in the session as a member of the National Commission for the Implementation of the AI Ethics Code. She also oversees the Working Group on the Development and Monitoring of Methodologies for Assessing Risks and Humanitarian Impact of AI Systems.
