8 July: MGIMO AI Centre on the Sidelines of the ITU AI for Good Summit
On 8 July 2026, Anna Abramova, Director of the MGIMO AI Centre, took part in two events held in Geneva as part of the ITU AI for Good Summit: the workshop “Are You AI Ready?” and the high-level roundtable of the ITU AI for Good Lab.
The workshop “Are You AI Ready?” focused on assessing the readiness of countries and organisations to develop and deploy AI, covering governance, regulation, digital infrastructure and data, as well as workforce capacity building and international cooperation. During the workshop, Anna Abramova moderated the panel discussion “Shared Vocabulary on AI Readiness – A Framework Perspective”, which brought together representatives of the ITU, the United Nations Development Programme, UNESCO and the OECD.
In the afternoon, Anna Abramova took part in the high-level roundtable of the ITU AI for Good Lab. The discussion focused on developing national AI ecosystems, assessing countries' readiness to deploy AI, and sharing international practices in regulation, competence development and the launch of applied pilot projects.
One of the central topics was the ITU AI Readiness Framework, designed to assess national AI ecosystems, identify gaps and shape practical steps towards the responsible and inclusive development of AI.
Participants discussed the key areas of work of the ITU AI for Good Lab: readiness assessment and AI policy development, AI competence building, and the launch of applied “AI for Good Sandbox” pilots.
During the roundtable, the MGIMO AI Centre's participation in a regional sandbox under the auspices of the RCC (Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications) was announced.
The MGIMO AI Centre's participation in the AI for Good Summit is carried out under the Priority-2030 development programme.
