MGIMO AI Centre at the Roundtable on AI in Education, Research and Skills Development at the AI for Good Summit
On 7 July, as part of the AI for Good 2026 Summit, a lunchtime roundtable on AI in education, research and skills development brought together representatives of academia and business.
AI is reshaping approaches to teaching, scientific research and the development of professional skills. This calls for a rethinking of traditional methods and practices and increases the role and involvement of business in education. It also gives rise to a debate about the respective merits of classical university education and the specialised retraining offered by the private sector.
Anna Abramova, Director of the MGIMO AI Centre, who took part in the roundtable, shared her view:
“It is the university that lays the fundamental groundwork, making graduates more competitive in the long term. Continuing professional education can then build on that foundation, developing new skills and honing those already acquired, allowing a person to keep improving throughout their career and life. Without the basic knowledge that only a university provides, it is impossible to imagine a true professional.”
The MGIMO AI Centre's participation in the AI for Good Summit is carried out under the Priority-2030 development programme.
