Article by Oleg Gurov “Transcending Boundaries: A Conversation with Stelarc on His Vision of Human–Machine Integration” Published
An article by Oleg Gurov, Research Fellow at the MGIMO AI Centre, titled “Transcending Boundaries: A Conversation with Stelarc on His Vision of Human–Machine Integration,” has been published in a journal of the Higher School of Economics.

The article presents an analysis of the artist’s work alongside a dialogue with the renowned artist Stelarc, whose practice lies at the intersection of technology, futurology, and art.

The interview addresses the challenges and prospects of digital technologies, as well as their impact on the economy, social institutions, the environment, and the future of human identity.

The study is based on an exclusive interview and an analysis of the artist’s projects, ranging from early performances to contemporary robotic installations and practices of distributed corporeality, in which the integration of artificial intelligence plays a central role. The author demonstrates that Stelarc’s artistic practice serves as an experimental platform for reflecting on the ethical, political, and economic implications of biotechnological and AI-based integrations. The article concludes by emphasizing the need for a transdisciplinary approach that enables the use of artistic practices in the development of norms and policies governing the integration of AI into social life.
