MGIMO AI Centre Takes Part in the First Global Dialogue on AI Governance, Held in Geneva on 6–7 July
On 6 July, the first Global Dialogue on AI Governance — established by UN General Assembly Resolution 79/325 — opened its proceedings. Its core themes include the social, economic, ethical, cultural, linguistic and technical opportunities and implications of AI; bridging the AI divides; safe, secure and trustworthy AI; and respecting, protecting and promoting human rights: transparency, accountability and human oversight.
Anna Abramova, Director of the MGIMO AI Centre, is taking an active part in the work of this first Global Dialogue on AI Governance.
“I welcome the fact that the UN, as a global organisation, is engaging with the regulation of AI systems and seeking to promote a fairer distribution of the benefits of this technology across the world. I hope that the commitment to ensuring technological equality among states will also be reflected in the representation of countries within the various UN bodies dealing with AI,” Anna Abramova emphasised.
On the first day, Anna Abramova attended the meeting of UN Secretary-General António Guterres with the members of the High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence and the UN Independent International Scientific Panel on AI.
The MGIMO AI Centre's participation in the event is carried out under the Priority-2030 development programme.
