MGIMO AI Centre expert joins two working groups of the UN U4SSC initiative
Ksenia Pankova, Deputy Head of the MGIMO AI Centre, has joined the expert membership of two working groups of the United for Smart Sustainable Cities (U4SSC) initiative: Working Group 8 on Guiding Principles and Frameworks for People-Centred Smart Cities in the AI Era, and Working Group 1 – the U4SSC Thematic Group on Future Foresight for Cities, including its subgroups on the Future of Work, the Future of Government and the Future of Economy in the Age of AI.

The U4SSC initiative is led by the International Telecommunication Union, UN-Habitat and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, with the participation of more than twenty UN system entities. Experts contribute on a voluntary basis through regular online meetings. The principal deliverable of Working Group 8 is a practical guide for city administrations, the People-Centred Smart Cities Toolbox, to be presented at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona in November 2026. Working Group 1, in turn, is preparing an Urban Future Foresight Framework and a collection of city case studies.
