The interim report of the UN High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence was discussed at an interdisciplinary seminar at MGIMO
On February 28, a large-scale event was successfully held at MGIMO to discuss the interim report on the results of the work of the UN High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence in 2023. The interdisciplinary workshop brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from research institutions, agencies, business and higher education institutions.
The event included two main discussion sessions:
Session No. 1: “International regulation of AI – challenges and opportunities for the development of scientific and technical cooperation and education”;
Session No. 2: “Potential and risks in creating new institutions for regulating AI at the international level for the Russian AI market and international cooperation.”

The interdisciplinary workshop provided a platform for experts to explore critical issues related to global AI regulation and created opportunities for collaborative discussion of topical issues, including the prospects and threats of the application of AI technology in various sectors.
The presence of participants from many industries once again emphasized the importance of a multilateral approach in shaping international regulation of AI technologies.

The event demonstrated the interest of the Russian expert community in the topic of global regulation of AI and the activities of the UN High-Level Advisory Body on AI.
Participants expressed interest in further dialogue on the current agenda in the field of AI - at the intersection of technology, politics and international cooperation at MGIMO AI Centre, but within narrow-profile groups.
