Driving Positive Change: MGIMO AI Centre Joins AIM Global in Shaping the Future of AI in Industry
Moscow – April , 2024 – MGIMO AI Centre has joined AIM Global, the Global Alliance on Artificial Intelligence for Industry and Manufacturing. This strategic collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing safe, sustainable, and inclusive application of AI in all stages of its lifecycle in industry and manufacturing.
Guided by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), AIM Global promotes the responsible development and deployment of AI and frontier technologies. AIM Global shapes a digital future that is open, secure, and beneficial to all.

MGIMO AI Centre has joined AIM Global to facilitate the accountable development and application of AI through establishing common approaches and norms, conducting relevant research and promoting accountable and responsible AI management by the industries.

Moscow State Institute of International Relations is the leading Russian academic institution in international studies including international technological cooperation. In 2021 Centre for Artificial intelligence (AI) was established to promote partnerships in IT, studies in this area and networks with the key stakeholders. One of the key research tracks of the Centre is the elaboration and implementation of AI assessment tools, incl. AI ethics, that could be applied both at national and international levels. It is the Centre’s study “AI ethics assessment at national and international levels. The approach to index framework and methodology” (published online May 2022) which facilitated UNESCO’s “Readiness assessment methodology. A Tool of the Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence” for the parts on the legal, social/cultural, scientific/educational, economic and technical and infrastructure dimensions. The AI ethics assessment is the ongoing project for the MGIMO Centre for AI. This year the Centre is publishing AI Ethics assessment with regard to business advances. The Centre conducts research and makes publications related to AI regulation and global governance, AI global business development, digital trade and some other spheres.
